A subdomain is a part of a website that has its own address within the main domain. It appears before the main domain and is separated by a period.

### Simple Examples

- **blog.exemplo.com**: Subdomain for a blog.
- **loja.exemplo.com**: Subdomain for an online store.
  
In practice, a subdomain organizes different areas of a website without having to create a new domain. For example, **mail.google.com** is the subdomain for Google's email service (Gmail), and **maps.google.com** is for Google Maps.

Subdomains help separate specific sections within the same website.
