Tutorial: Subdomain Migration to the New CNAME


This guide explains how to migrate your subdomain from the old CNAME ( domains.cloakup.me) to the new one: cname.cloakup-dns.com.

• Access to your DNS provider's panel (e.g., Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Hostinger).

🛠️ Step-by-Step Guide


1. Access the DNS Provider Panel


• Log into your DNS provider account.

• Navigate to the DNS records management section of your domain.

2. Locate the Old CNAME Record


• Look for the existing CNAME record with the value domains.cloakup.me.

3. Update the CNAME Record


Edit the old record or create a new one with the following value: cname.cloakup-dns.com.


Notes:


  • If 86400 (24 hours) is not available, select the highest possible TTL.
  • Propagation may take up to 4 hours.

4. Click "Migrate"


• After updating the CNAME, return to the Cloakup platform.

• Click the "Migrate" button to confirm the change.

5. Click "Verify" Domain Again


  • After clicking "Migrate," you will need to click "Verify" to complete the setup.

6. Verify the Migration


  • Wait for full propagation.
  • Use tools like DNS Checker to confirm if the new CNAME is active.

  • Issue: Migration not completed after 4 hours.

Solution:


  1. Verify that the CNAME was correctly saved in the DNS.
  2. Clear your browser cache or test on a different network.
  3. Contact your DNS provider's support if necessary.
